Ok, i just got my new, semi-working PS2 V9 in the mail today... Started working on all the ways i could fix it, didn't read DVD, assumed it was the dreaded V9 and 10 syndrome. SO... I did the romeo mod, went great, worked fine, still no DVD read though. Started adjusting the 2 white cogs to lift the laser up, started reading better. Then all the sudden I lost power! Found the problem as being i accidently pulled the ribbon from the reset/eject buttons... Ok... Now the power starts up. BUT, the tray won't eject, AND there's no laser activity. I noticed the same problem with my V7. I replaced the working drive with a broken one, didn't know at the time, and there was no eject/laser activity. SO... I'm assuming the drive is gone on my V9, like the other one too. Is there any fix for this? Anyway to bypass whatever the tray does to tellt he system its shut, and to have the laser kick on? I just need to make sure it'll still work if i buy a new drive... What EXACTLY does the tray do to tell the system its shut? I STILL don't know! Any info would be great!
P.S. I almost went as far as to replace the laser coils with my, for some reason just happen to have, spare broken V9 laser. Tested the coils, and go 6 Ohms for each. Higher than the recomended 4.5, but not as low as the terribly broken 1 ohm... Anyway... Links to sites with guides would eb great since i can't seem to find any! I don't know much about V9 and V10 systems...
V9 tray doesn't eject, no disc activity...

Well now, thanks to my dumbass "Gotta try it" theory, I get nothing... I jumped (what i htought was a fuse), and the system shut down. Ok, thought i accidently touched ground like I've doen a few times... Nope... I press reset, the green light comes on, no fan spin, then after 3 sec. it goes into standby again... What the hell did I do now? Any help would eb appreciated. Thanks Gannon, i'll test that AFTER the system starts to turn on. I'm thinking I could just replace the "thingy" i jumped, with a spare from my fried PS2...
