Multiple Ways To Open Up an N64

Hi its me again. I was wanting to know multiple methods of opening an N64 System because of those nasty screws make it complicated to open it.

The reason im making this post is because i don't see any thread sticking to this question.

Plus if this thread gets a lot of answers it may help other people also when they would like to open their Nintendo 64 With Everyday Household Items.

read the link at the bottom, its better than my explanation.

1. force - pull or crack it open you can any way without damaging any of the internal parts. You might be able to dremel away at it too, but this first method isn't reccommended

2. get a gamebit and just unscrew it with that.

3. get a clear hexagonal bic pen, use a pair of pliers to pull out the tip, along with the ink tube inside. then put the tip in a fire and jam it down into the screw hole, and then hold it for 10 seconds and dip it in water. Now you have a custom screwdriver but it does strip pretty easy.

4. take a soldering iron and heat up the screw with it. if the plastic around the screw melts you should be able to pull out the screw with a pair of needle nose pliers.

I took an allen wrench screw and sanded it down to fit into the holes. then just unscrewed the screws.

You missed one:
Take a strong, long pair of needle nose plyers that fit into the holes and just carefully grab and twist till all of the screws are out, cept the final deepest one.

I got all my nintendo screws out with pliers though im pretty sure I have more off a range than most.. my dad being an electrician means the garage is full of tools of varying sizes..

My dad's an electrician too, so I have lots of stuff, too. HIGH-FIVE!
I opened mine up by cutting the air vents on the side then taking pliers, and ripping the case apart.

Or go out and buy the right etorx bits. That's all that the gambits are, and the ones you buy at sears will be much better quality than the ones (marketed as gambit) that you get on ebay or elsewhere.
