Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
well, sony basically dont care of ppl break their waranty label and take appart their producs and hack them, this basically means you will not have their support.
I also used a tv, the schematics hasnt been done yet.
you will need check the traces between the video/audio inputs at the circuit, you also can use a multimeter to see what traces go where, then, remove the vid/audio inputs and solder there phisically with small wires, when testing, you may get a strong video signal, if you cant fix it using contrast/brightress, use a variable resistor between the system and portable tv at the video ground (There are some info at my guide about this)
btw, you will need get the audio/video and power pinouts from tv first

Okay, one of my high school classes has some multi-meters. I'll use one of those to test it out and see how that goes. Thanks a lot Kasar, I appreciate it

Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
Hows that new DVD drive motor working? Is it actually spinning the gears it needs to?
copulate all you goddamn smartasses.
Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
In other news: I've been using my multimeter to figure out the pinouts of my PS2 gamescreen. I'm ganna need to read through some PS1 screen tutorials to get a better idea of how to hook up the screen (NOOBTASTIC!!!!).
My 2nd GC mobo decided to stop working (no idea why). QUESTION: What are the pinouts for the Vid/audio on the REVISION C GAMECUBE MOTHERBOARD?!?!?!?!? I'm almost positive they arent the same as the rev A/B pinouts cuz my multimeter was giving me wierd readings...
I bought my potential GC portable case today for 50 cents! (oh I love thrift stores). Its an answering machine for a telephone
Since everything else has been a failure, I'm hesitant to start working on the controller part of this project, but its fairly easy so I may use that to boost my confidence. Thats all for now.
Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
the analog audio/video pinout from the REV C gamecube should be same than A and B REVs, I think I also did that mod to a rev C mobo, and the standard analog audio/video cables from gc work on all models. btw, if you are trying to get S-video or RGB instead the composite signal, it can differ on different GC regions or REVs. composite signal allways worked for me
Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
News:
I refused to give up on making an impossibly small GC portable. As a result, I came up with another crazy idea to reduce width on the motherboard significantly. Its a soldering nightmare from the pit of hell, but thankfully, Satan was on my side
I'll post pics next time when its finalized.
I've decided to not use my 2.5" PS2 game screen (I'm just too noob to figure it out) so I'm going to have to get a small PS1 screen and then follow some tutorials.
Besides Ben's book, where can I find info on Composite/RGB since it still confuses me (I've searched all over the forums).
Oh, and I will be leaving for Ohio to do my Eagle Project next Friday (long story) and then after that I'm going to Los Angeles for the summer so my days are numbered to work on this project. I promise I will continue it when I get back. I've got big plans: First the GC, then the PS2, then the wii, then the super nintendo
thx for not shoving noob down my throat, i appreciate it

Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
Well, I'll be starting my Eagle Project tomorrow and I won't be able to work on this project until the end of the summer unfortunately.
To be continued...

WTF is an Eagle project? In any case, sucks that you can't work on it for a while. In any case, I don't really get your method.

I'm pretty sure it is his eagle scouts project, you have to do one to graduate eagle scouts. My cousin did anyway.XCVG wrote:WTF is an Eagle project? In any case, sucks that you can't work on it for a while. In any case, I don't really get your method.

I'm pretty sure it is his eagle scouts project; you have to do one to earn the rank of Eagle scout. My cousin did anyway.
Fixed it for you

Well, my cousing was 17 and he had to do some project for eagle scouts and it had to be done before his 18th birthday, I'm not sure what that was then.eagle5953 wrote:I'm pretty sure it is his eagle scouts project; you have to do one to earn the rank of Eagle scout. My cousin did anyway.

Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
I turned in my completed application about a day before my 18th birthday
Re: Tchay's GC Worklog
Well, it sure has been a while! No, I'm still in LA so I can't work on my project at the moment, but I might as well have an update.
My Eagle Project went very smoothly! The Eagle Application was trying but I'm officially and Eagle Scout (as of June 16th)!!!
I went back home for a few days and tried out my jewelers saw. It takes a lot of patience to cut through the motherboard. I estimated that I could cut about a cm/minute. If thats normal then okay, but if anyone knows of a better way to cut through the GC motherboard (preferably non-power tools since I can't afford them), then let me know, thx!
Also, I'm very curious to see if anyone has tried using the flatmi chip to make a wii/GC portable (not requiring a DD).
Note: this project is on hold but is not abandoned!, I'll get back to it late 2013.
EDIT - for anyone reading this post, a cm/minute of cutting is NOT normal. With standard Jeweler's saw with a small bade (I wanna say 2/0 but mine might be smaller) you can cut the entire length of the GC motherboard in under 2 minutes. You can do it in under a minute if you aren't trying to be precise. It took me so long before because my blade was dull, big, and I didn't have the mobo stabilized to have my surface absorb the impact of the blade (the mobo just took all the vibrations, making the cutting process take 3x as long)
^ lololo just get a dremel yo
