Cool way To Make Cases!

I've been working on this idea for quite some time now and it works!
You can make a case any size you want this way. Even do angles for a really cool case. You can get different sized channel aluminum at www.mcmastercarr.com

yeah, but what happens when you want to curve the sides? Channel aluminum isn't very easy to bend without the right equipment.

Like this case? I just made a cut in the side and bent it in the vice to get it like that. by the way, it's not warped, it's completely straight, the picture is just crappy.

I think I'll stick to wood, as much as I'd love to get something a case made out of metal I dont like to cut my finger tips up on the sheet metal (or any sharp edge).

A way i'v been doing portable cases is create the design on paper then cut the shape out on 2 pieces of plastic/plexi whatever u want.

then you have the board screwed down on the back piece of plastic and controls and screen on the top.

then you use the plastic tubes u buy for screws for the wall and put a nut and both through it.

Once you have all 2 pieces connected and all setup u get some styrine plastic and cut it as a strip and it will ben around the case easily and u glue it on

It looks great its a simpler design based on how ben made his VCS with the fake woodgrain

Its a lot easier and cheaper plus it actually looks as good as bens

Say what method is it that ben used on the NESp (smaller ones) where it looks to be made of several layers of plastic? It looks a lot simplier and possibly faster.

Yeah, he laser cut each layer, and then glued them on top of each other.
