It does have eight commons. Otherwise it would not have been labled 8PDT. Unless they are lying of course. It looked to have 12 pins on the bottom and top. But whatever, something like an IC sounds better anyway for what your doing.
EDIT: Nvm looks like there are 24 pins divided into two rows on the bottom.

Look again bacteria, that is an 8PDT switch. Just look at the diagram!

Ah yes, my mistake, it is!XCVG wrote:Look again bacteria, that is an 8PDT switch. Just look at the diagram!
Prefer my one though as you can see which mode it is in; however, good find!

As far as I know, you really only have two options for the region mod switch:
a) Use an 8PDT switch (caterpillar switch as I call 'em) either bought or made like you did (clever, BTW!).
b) Use an IC with a standard 2PDT switch. Don't know much about this method, but a lot of guys on pcenginefx.com use this method.
BTW I've booted up my Duo-R (JP version) with the switch set to the wrong region with no ill effects. The game won't boot up, obviously.

I will check out that site, many thanks.
Have you got links and details on the IC you refer to? It would be nice to have a multiple contact switch on a chip rather than manual switches, as a future option.
I like my switch, easy to move.
If the 8 lines are data lines and not power, then yes, turning on with the wrong cart will just do nothing and not damage.

I can confirm, the switch bank I made works smoothly and easily. I had some bits of plastic stuck in by mistake, which initially caused problems, once removed, switch works great. I can easily switch between US and Japanese games now on the TurboGrafx.
Found another commerical 8P2T switch, if you are interested - I don't need this for my project but might find them useful in future (if they reply to my e-mail!): HERE

Yes, I came across that, and got Google to translate it with their free service. I read elsewhere however that it didn't work as the IC's were the wrong type. Anyway, my own switch works great, easy to flip, cheap; and hole cut in my case to take it now!
