Would someone be able to tell me were to connect the negative leads on the LEDs in the ps one screen mod.

haha yea i remember the insanely stupid suff i used to do. I thought i was a genius once because i developed the 'spark' method. that's where you poke around the board with a wire and see if there's a spark which=bad. lol.
