Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
Better yet, let's edit our posts to make people think it's a real contest.
Why don't we just stick to making fake stuff and showing each other?
Oh right, because it's funny.
Carry on.

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
I had an idea a few days ago, it was never a serious thought.
A supercapacitor-powered NESp. All you need is an existing NESp, and some pictures of some supercapacitors wired up to it where the batteries should be. Boast something like a 2 hour battery life, and you got yourself a believable hoax.
Who knows, it might even actually work.

Hey, sup?

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
I have a few li-ion button cells that would work for that.
EDIT: XCVG, I suggest you edit your first post to a lame blog post about how you bought new Nike shoes. We can edit our posts accordingly. Make sure to send links to people so that members are aware of the ruse.

Re: New MP3 player, now broken
Edited first post with a story about a street bum and an ipod ripoff. The contest rules are there, I'll delete them when we get closer to april fools. Actually wait, I have a better idea.
Re: New MP3 player, now broken
RULES:
***APRIL FOOLS FAKE PRODUCT/PROJECT CONTEST!***
Basically, you have to show us a picture of a fake product or device or other project, preferable gaming related. It could be a game, console, accessory, portable, whatever. Due april fools day.
Rules:
1. Entry must be in by April 1st, preferably before.
2. Entry must be fake.
3. Can be a hack, product, portable, whatever.
4. Entry should be gaming related, but doesn't have to be.
5. Winner will be decided by popular vote.
6. Your entry may be drawn, 3D modeled, photoshopped, or ACTUALLY BUILT!
6a. If you build something it doesn't have to be functional. It can be an empty shell.
7. You must post at least one picture. A description does not count!
8. You can't vote for yourself.
9. You may have more than one entry. No bonus points, sorry.
GO!
EDIT: Rule 9.

Maybe we should take a screenshot of page 2, post that, and fill the real page 2 as well? Or do you think 1 page in enough?

A mod I am not. Did you change it only because you thought I had the power to make you?XCVG wrote:Oh crap, palmer's not a mod, I didn't have to do that.
On that note, I just noticed I am a senior member... Hooray!

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
Why don't we set the thread to look like this:
Say that April 4th or something is the 5th anniversary of the forums. Set it up as a contest with a deadline that everyone crams in at the last minute on April 1. Prize listed should be something amazing (XBox 360 laptop) or just odd enough to be notable (dinner and Rock Band with Ben).
Have one of the senior members act as a sort of captain to pre-approve projects before posting (to avoid a hoax so over the top that it becomes obvious that they are fake). Initial posts should be changed to the usual "man, I have a project to finish that will blow everyone out of the water!" and "I've got something I've been thinking about doing..." sort.
Otherwise, perhaps it would make sense to have a mod delete the whole thread and start a new one without any reference to April Fools. Posts should be mainly limited to the projects themselves, to make it easier for the engadget folks to see.
Let's break that record of 808 concurrent visitors!

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
You guys are awesome, I started reading this thread and was like "what are these guys talking about?!" and I almost didn't read the next pages because the thread was so lame! Mission accomplished!
This is a great idea. You could edit out wires in pictures to make it look like things are running off battery power or hide video cables to make it look like something is playing the video of something else. I'm sad that this thread was made so late!!

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Re: April Fools Fake Product/Project Contest
I came up with this idea during math today, how about a gameboy color thats actually a N64p! Or is that just way too unbelievable.
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.
