It had a lot of screws holding it together. I would have documented everything with pictures but it's so simple to do you wouldn't even need pictures. Don't worry I did take some pics. I warn you though - the pictures make it quite obvious that I'm a slob who loves Lipton Green Tea and Mountain Dew Voltage. Here they are:
This is the heart of the intercooler - the fan and the power supply adapter thinger in all of it's gutted glory. Anybody think this could be used to make some other kind of adapter for a console mod?
The power adapter has wires going off of points on the male piece to the fans. Unless there's magic involved I do believe this is how an intercooler's fans are powered with the 360. It's quite sad that they receive constant power and are noisy as hell. Maybe that's why I wanted to dismantle this thing so badly.
The stickers on all of the fans say:
"Thermal Control - DC Brushless Fan - Model DF0521512SEMN - 12V DC 0.12A 1.44W - Made in China
These are all of the screws and non-electronic parts from the intercooler, aside from the shell itself. I had absolutely no idea what that spring-loaded button ever did. It's not connected to anything.
Anyway, all of the screws and the clips holding the fans together all fit inside of a spall pop bottle top.
There's my foot and the intercooler shell. Now that this thing is completely useless, I think I'll just toss it out.
Hope this is useful to someone. It sure was fun wasting ten minutes taking it apart and then spending another fifteen on this post
