Threading nylon spacer with size 6 screw for use with size 4

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Threading nylon spacer with size 6 screw for use with size 4

Post by ckrtech »

Hey guys.

The SNES by hand chapter of the book mentions threading the nylon spacers with a size 6 screw, however it looks like most of those spacers are going to take a size 4 screw by the end of the project - including some that even have a size 4 nut glued to the top of the spacer.

I figured threading the spacers with a size 6 screw would be too big for a size 4 screw. Is this not the case?

I posted it here because I think it might be more of a general case-building question than a specific question related to the book.

Thanks!

Use the book as general guidelines, not as a bible.

I'm sure you can figure this one out on your own.

Well in my experience, the book is pretty much error-city. However sometimes doing something out of the ordinary is just part of the construction process with the parts you have.

The obvious answer is to find out what size screw is going in each post and just use that as your threading screw, but then I thought "ehh. Why not just ask a stupid question to verify before you go home to work on it?"

I was pretty sure the book was quite wrong (again) in this case, but hey - no experience with case work for me so why not just ask to be sure.
