another screen question

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

another screen question

Post by Wong »

I picked up one of these:

6.8" Color TFT-LCD Slim Module UP68D01 Unipac

The input on this claims "rgb", but I am learning that rgb means a couple different things. Anybody know anything about this screen? Will it accept the analog video input? Seems like a good screen if I can just figure out how to use it for something more constructive than a paper weight.

Did you pick it up off of ebay? I was looking at the same model :)
The lcd uses a digital rgb signal (like almost any lcd I know of), but the controller card that comes with it uses composite.

RGB IS the best quality video out there....and that's a FACT :)..........why? 'cause none of the video lines are combined, so it's as pure and clear as possible :)!!!!!
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Yes, it was the same one on ebay, followed the link on this forum and bid when nobody seemed to be taking. Pricy, but for the size it ought to be fun. I still don't have the book yet though... So it's a storage thing for now. Thanks for the direction on the controller also, now that I look at the schematic he sent, I think I see the analog connection clear enough. Now I just have to decide what route to take with the sound (didn't really think that far).

Anyway, big thanks again!

so does the lcd have everything you need on it to plug into a system? could you post some pics? Give details (i.e. do I need to solder onto the board to catch the input or are there actual jacks? Do I need to buy module to control the input? ) Please help, I'm really looking to buy one of these if they are worth it.
