Provided that you have a proper Lithium charger, than yes, you can use it. On my recent portable I used a bunch of cell phone batteries and re-wired them into a decent pack.
You find what pin(s) are negitive and what are positive. From there Ben used to my memory pins from Radioshack (with the Sony Info-Lithium). Be sure to glue them in place with lots of hot glue so they dont move, or if your sure their set right use epoxy.

Its probably not killed, all the wiring from the old way is torn up. I could probably rewire it all if I get a soldering iron... Cant use the old charging unit though.
Note: Be carefull when using a screwdriver to pry something open that has no screw holes. It slipped and sliced my hand pretty bad.
