Yeah pretty lame. That PS2 I just sold, I said $15 for shipping. Actually cost $18 at the post office (which is already the cheapest way to ship) No big deal, but for smaller stuff, unless you're selling a lot of it, eBay's not leaving much wiggle room.

I agree a lot of "ship-gouging" occurred on eBay, but this is lame. I should also note here that eBay also consolidated its ad system. (They do it in-house, not through 3rd parties)

You might remember the eBay ads we used to have - those were served by Commission Junction. I switched all the ads to the eBay internal system. The exact same kind of ads, the same amount of them, but now they earn about 1/5th what they used to. LAME! This is actually why I had to start putting in other ads, the new eBay stuff wasn't cutting it anymore.

Also don't forget eBay owns Paypal, so it's in their interest to funnel more that way.

Wow, they keep getting worse. I can only see two outcomes:
1. Government regulation --PayPal is all but a bank and I'm surprised it hasn't already been seriously investigated. This will get very sticky with multiple countries being serviced by PayPal (not directly related to eBay being a problem, but they're tied at the hip)
2. Another competitor --Google's Checkout is very similar to PayPal for businesses, it wouldn't take much to extend it for users. An auction system would compliment fairly nicely with Froogle. There's a small chance that Yahoo could come back to the US market, they're big in Japan and a few other countries. If the chinks in eBays armor become apparent, they might take a chance and pounce.

This is the problem, e-bay are so big and are the de-facto now. The bite is that if you try anywhere else to sell then you are unlikely to get many bidders or revenue, and as a buyer many goods you want.

Bottom line is there is little choice, so put up with it; e-bay know that, so take advantage of the fact.

I tend to list items on their half-price promotion days. If you are careful you can list some items "accidentally" as books or CD's in order to reduce seller prices; or if you need more shipping costs, put the item in a category which accepts higher postage rates. Not ideal, but might be worth considering. This isn't dishonest as they are taking advantage of their monopoly.

Its called "Yes Yes Yes". Its all natural, mostly organic, and free of all known skin irritants (That can't be said for KY (WHICH IS USED IN PAINT THINNERS...WTF!), Astroglide, etc, etc...).

Anyways. I can see this being a female of the dog species for sellers with a large item, or bulk amount. But is it REALLY that bad? Frankly, as a buyer, I'm kinda sick and tired of being ship-gouged. That said, I think its a fair trade. Maybe I'm crazy.

I actually charge a "Paypal" fee if the person buying something from me wants to go through paypal. If the buyer wants protection he has to pay for it, not me. I accept money orders and checks.
