Hold on, why hasn't anyone ever run into this problem before? I haven't ever seen it mentioned. Is it because you are using PTH08000?

That's immense overkill.Oxzgen wrote:OK, thanks! I ordered a pack of 1 watt resistors.
Well it's because no one really knows to care about overheating etc. Aside that, any resistor you can buy at RadioShack and the majority of resistors in general are rated to above .05Weurddrue wrote:Hold on, why hasn't anyone ever run into this problem before? So your saying that he didn't even need to buy the resistors? I'm a little confused...
02, have you made any progress yet? such as case ect.

Re: Porta64 (Name Pending) - LOG [UPDATED]
You know you could easily buy an expansion pak for like five bucks (or less i fyou get a 3rd party one)...
That's just a suggestion, as you won't be able to play Donkey Kong 64 or Majora's Mask... and any other game that requiers it.
Otherwise cool project!!!

Making stuff with my new beautiful CNC machine!
Would you like a professional looking custom case for your portable? I may be able to help you. Check out this link:

Sorry about the absence. I haven't been able to work on my portable for a while since school has started. Taking college level classes and so I wont be able to make progress until the summer. Sorry for not updating!
P.S. I do have the Expansion Pak, I just don't want to risk relocating it and ruining my project. I'll figure out a way to get it in there though.

Re: Porta64/nPort/nCore - LOG [UPDATED]
I'm bumping this topic because I am actively working on it again. I have made some progress in the last couple days and I hope to really make huge progress in it over MEA break. I have new pictures on their way! Read my update or even my entire post if you are interested in my project. Ask any questions you have and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks!

Re: Porta64/nPort/nCore - LOG [UPDATED]
Hey, does anyone know which side of the terminal on the battery circuitry I should wire up to the charger port and which side I should wire to the N64/screen? The batteries are Polaroid BT-42/41, the same as are on the L64. Don't say "Try PMing Marshall" or "Search the forums;" spare me the frustration, Ive already tried both. I've tried PMing Marshall about it more than once, and he's either not getting them or ignoring them. But whatever; I don't care, I just want to know the answer to the above question...

If you have the batteries on the bottom, and the board facing up,
the left will be output, and the right will be the charge.
positive and negative should be on the board itself.

Re: Porta64/nPort/nCore - LOG [UPDATED]
Alright I have the batteries wired up and what I am assuming is charging. So, my question is "Does a red LED light mean that it is charging or that there is an error in my wiring?" And should I be charging the batteries with a full 9 volts or is 7.5 volts (using the power adapter that came with the screen) an alright amount?
EDIT: Well... Time answered both of my questions! For these batteries, a red light means that the unit is charging. Green means fully charged. The light also turns orangy, which means that the battery is mostly charged. As for the 9 volt charger, it will also take other volt amounts (in my case 7.5 volts). The charge time is a hefty four-ish hours, which is long, but w/e, it's portable!!!

Re: Porta64/nPort/nCore - LOG [UPDATED]
I've been reading around and I really don't see why people don't use my method of relocating the slot... It is neat, no solder mess, it is easilly removable so that you can work around it, it can easily be flexed around the N64, you can flip it around and the cord is really thin and doesn't take up any room. It beats soldering for an hour, having to deal with solder bridges, having to worry about breaking the wires and all that other stuff. It literally took me 5 minutes to take off the port, solder in the pin strip and put the terminals on... The pin strips can be bought for 2 dollars online and shipped for nothing. The cable and terminals can be found in any computer. The pin strip fits perfectly into the board and you just go down the line dabbing solder onto each pin (at 2 seconds a pin, its done in 200 seconds which is roughly 3.5 minutes; and that's the grunt of the work). But people will be people. O well... If anyone wants more info or pictures of how I did my relocation, just ask. And WTF! 5000 views and only 1 person says good luck.
