Hooking up Power

Post by jgibson »

I am building a handbuilt nesp, and I am having a little trouble , well actually a lot of trouble wiring the battery to the unit. I have Ben's book but it doesn't go into enought detail about how to do this. Can anyone help me?

need the 5 volts? Find the 7805 regulator (this should be on the side of the RF box, it's a small square chip with 3 pins) and turn it so you can see the text and the pins are facing downward. The one on the left is where you connect the + part of your battery. The one in the middle goes to the - part of the battery and the -5v part of the board. Finally, the right pin goes to the +5 part. Sorry if someone beat me to this, it took a while to write this (I was doing other things, see :) )

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

Thanks for the info Sponge. I am using a 9.6v 1600 mAH battery to power my portable, and according to Ben's book, the battery hooks up inside the unit via a size K dc jack from Radio Shack. I have hooked everything to the 7805 power regulator, and I have all of the other parts he manetions, but I am a little confused on how wire it all together. Suggestions?
