7" LCD at 500mA?????

Post by NiN^_^NiN »

I finally got my 7" Non-wide screen LCD yesterday and i only have a 500mA 12v output power supply and the LCD actually runs at that mA

i was surprised but this is a OEM lcd no sound just LCD and controler board.

and that 500mA with a transformer on it for back lighting so thats not bad :)

i wonder how much it would run at if it was modded for LED backlighting.

hmm now what to do with it? it might be a bit to big for a portable altho its the size of a nes cart lol so if i added slim controls on the side of the LCD and used a noac it would actually run pretty cool and id get a decent play time out of it to if the whole unit can run at 550mA :D

hmmm i could put it in my car but its a sports car its all moulded so i can't really add it :( and i cant add it to the roof either.... oh well let me think about it

but noac cost $60 here $50 and $10 shipping on ebay and they dont sell them in shops iv looked :(

7" lcd screen, thats a big MF. I'm just throwing this out but what about your SMS? Doesnt it need a screen? The other option you said about mounting it in your car, you could see about just getting some mounting barakets that you can attach the screen to and remove and possibly be un-noticed. Otherwise you could just make your own travel entertainment pack with the lcd, just connect a DVD/VHS to it.

you dont need no stinking lcds ben, build the next portable as if you where in 1986 use a crt screen and find a wooden crate for the case.

Funny i mention that ben I was thinking about making my c64 a laptop with this screen.

Believe it or not in australia this is the ONLY lcd i can get :(

2" pocket tv's cost $200+ here same with the 3" tv's and the ps1 screen isnt sold down here and that cost $180 with ps1 if your lucky to find 1.

This screen cost me $160 all up (including postage) from ebay its a OEM lcd from taiwan looks quite nice but its SHARP as in the picture quality the subtitles from a DVD were VERY sharp it really needs a dare i say Blur control.

altho i think there is 1 or 2 small screw controls on the back im not sure.

I'll take a picture for u guys for a understanding of what i mean by sharp.

The guy doesn't ship outside of aus altho im sure he would make a auction for oversea bidders.

The lcd is from taiwan i can't remember the lcd name but i remember when i searched the net i only found there 4" screens not the 7"

but i will look into the SMS on the 7" LCD see if it looks good :)

That would be a great screen for a portable xbox laptop style. You should re-sell them. Like mark them up $10 or $20 bucks because like everyone would get them. Gannon you should stock those or atleast some screens.

The problem is, they are all probably PAL screens, so we'd get a garbled picture :(

My camera sucks :P but as u can see if i added controls to the side of the LCD (think zodiac type of case) and used a noac the cart can slot down the back of the LCD and the batteries can be mounted besides the cart.

i might have to make up a concept but it would be like how ben used the batteries on his new snesp except mines on the side of the whole cart not the slot.

But as u see if u added the height of a cart slot on the bottom of the LCD it a nice amount of room for the cart to be pulled out. :)

But who knows what will be done with the LCD prob wont be used for a portable who knows now to go try it on my c64
