It'd end up being about the same price anyways, especially after time spent soldering. For the most part companies that make PCBs and solder them for you are good, gotta expect to send a few out of every 100 back though :P
Oh...and of course, this is a linux/homebrew game loader only ;)
Edit: and as far a thoughts go, having it be able to use usb media would be nice (small usb adapter and 16GB+sdhd would be kinda nice for portability)

No point then to this whole thing then if only for homebrew really just get a psp. The main point of this thing thats good is it will remove the need for a disk drive.

Thank you, Triton. What kind of soldering equipment do you have? Are you sure you'll be able to solder those fine-pitched SMDs?

Hey... do you know anything about Eagle? I'm having a problem with the airwires for the FPGA. Everything was fine when I first started routing, but I have since had to shrink the FPGA's pads in the library because they were too close together by Sparkfun's standards. They were 7.something mil apart; Sparkfun requires 8mil. After I did that, I had to delete the FPGA from the board and re-add it... now I can't get my airwires to come back for it. I've tried everything I know how to try. The names for the FPGA in the schematic and the board are the same and everything; it's just not "syncing up" with the schematic. :?

I have PMed Marshall about it, but he's been too busy with work 'n such to help me... this is the current library and project (schematic and PCB).

So how 'bout it... can you help me? :|

Alright, cool. I'm trying to think though... should I keep my board design to myself and be a nazi, making you all pay a little bit extra for the PCBs, or should I just release the PCBs to the world, and let you guys get them routed yourself? I think I'll do the latter, since most of you will probably want to order all at the same time so we can get a cheaper price on them anyway.

By the way, looks like I'm tacking on another $2.50 or $5.00... I don't think I'll have enough room with my current design (45mm x 70mm).

Looks like you'll have to route it again.

I finally got Eagle 5.0.0 running, and re-created your board. You'll need the extra space. Even then I'm doubtful that you can do this with only a 2-layer board. But it can't hurt to try.

Everything there is just a rough guesstimate I did in a few minutes. It's not carved in stone, but it should get you started.

I've popped out 2 board layouts, the last one being measured to fit onto the bottom of a laptop hdd with screws.
Image <- only 3 more wires to route on this version

Edit:
Image <- all routed, but needs a few more hours of work before it's done :P

I feel... somehow, inadequate. Oh well... I redrew the schematic and created a parts library, and without that you guys wouldn't have had anything to work off of... Yeah, that's how I helped... Image

How did you get those boards routed so quickly, Gannon? Autorouter? I can't get the ELECTRA demo downloaded... they won't send me the link. Maybe I should try signing up again with a different email...

Marshall, your file appears to be the same one as mine was, when I originally sent it to you.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do now. You guys have functional auto-routers, so you have a clear advantage. I'm just kinda... sitting here, watching my board be manipulated in awesome ways... Image
