dont waste your time tswen, i posted a complete fiberglass case making walkthrough including priming and doing puddy work and nobody cared at all. had over 350 views and was on the site for about 2 weeks and no replys or nothing (before it reverted back to the old backup). so i didnt even bother reposting it again. took me too much time to compile a nice step-by-step process complete with pictures to recieve no feedback, not goona do it again for no reason
seems like people here either want to buy premade cases from polycase or just vacuum form

if i had seen it i would have certianly replied, this unfortunatly is one of the lower traffic areas of the forum. i have had some fiberglass experience in the past and considered making cases out of it before but decided against it due to the rather volatile nature of the resins and other various reasons, for larger things glass is fantastic tho but its a bit much for portables. you also have to keep in mind that about 90% of our userbase is under 18!

ok well i read back over my previous post and it seems to come off, overall, as bitter or mad about the fact nobody seemed interested... i didnt mean for it to sound like that. just merely wanted to point out that for a smaller project, like most of these, its much easier, faster and cheaper for people to go with the pre made cases. most of those who are wanting to make these projects are partial to electronics (since fiberglass is a Autobody and Boat skill mainly). and those who want to customize use the vacuum forming method. If anyone did seem to have interest in fiberglass molds i would be glad to repost the process.

I think you should re-post it.
Not everyone likes making cases from scratch, like I have done, some people would prefer to use vacuum forming, but don't have the materials, so an alternative method would be welcome. I tend to build things from ground up so making one as I am progressing seems the best method for me.

Yeah you should repost it, this forum is like one great archive of information. I'm sure someone will find it useful; if not now, then later.. I am still thinking about what's best for my new system.. And I'm sure I can use your info about priming and epoxying, as I am a total newbie at it, and will do it for my new project.
I can understand some positive feedback is appreciated though..

ok so i got caught up in my SNES project and havent had time to re-make my tutorial but i haven't forgot and ill be out of calss for the summer starting the 9th so ill defintly have it up soon for those interested...
oh and for my qualifications go to http://www.myspace.com/livinthelifeyouwant and in the pictures is my car that i painted myself, along with all the body work and interior work... the inductions on the side just in front of the rear wheel (modeled after NSX inductions) were free form made from fiberglass as well as the inductions in between the head lights(nose panel). its been painted for 1.5 years and no cracking or anything of the sort. the interior has since been changed from the blue vinyl to white suede, but thats not really relevant

Not posting doesn't make you a noob, ignorance, stupidity, laziness, and talking trash make you a noob. Just cause I don't post in threads doesn't mean I don't read the threads...
