A project I might finish: Family Computer Micro

Post by andoba »

This is a project inspired in the Game Boy Micro, but, this is not a portable console, I want this to be a home console. I've alredy got a clone FC board, quite small, perfect for what I need.

Image

The main board and the sub board. This board has no built in games, but has two joypads which use the FC / NES pad protocol and a DB15 expansion port adapter built in. The red wire is the VCC line which goes to a 5V DC line. The sizes are: for the FC board, 1x3x0,6 inches, with components, and for the auxiliar board, 3x1,75x0,5 inches, with components. The power draw is 350 mA.

I've made a list of things I've gotta get for the project:

- FC compatible chipset --DONE--
- Plastic project case.
- Soldering stuff --DONE--
- 2x Blue led.
- 9V DC power supply --DONE--
- 7805 linear regulator and all the auxiliars capacitors.
- 3 RCA jacks for AV.
- Headphone jack.
- ジュンク品 / broken Famicom for getting the gamepads.
- Painting stuff.

I'll update as I progress.

Cheers! ;D

If I were you, i'd look into getting something from polycase. They're just so cheap and work great. This should be a nice easy project.

Didnt realise you were not in the US. Do you have any pics of the console casing? Just out of curiosity.

It costed me 12€ with 4 four-in-one HK carts plus the one bundled with the machine.

That is very funny, I like how they make it look like a laptop by putting a screen in the picture, but it doesn't actually have one at all! I didn't know Famicom had a keyboard though, that's cool.
Emulation isn't accurate. There is no substitute for real hardware!

The funny thing is how they show Windows 95 in the box.

Haha even if it did have a screen, the cart would cover up most of it; especially for us using the 60-72 pin adapter. :P

still thats the coolest clone ever

Not anything cool to see, the black blob banged, and toxic fumes started to come out of it... Now the only thing visible is a scar from side to side of the blob.

I'm getting an original Famicom anyway so this is quite dead lol.
