Battleship in Excel

Post by JAY »

Things were getting slow at work, so a co-worker and I decided to make a game for Excel to keep us occupied. After careful deliberation, we chose to create a single-player game of Battleship, complete with 'expert AI'. If you're interested in passing some time at home (or at work*), give it a try. Just click the icon on the Excel sheet and it will pop up the GUI. You place your ships on the bottom grid, and attack with the top grid.

Webpage to download Battleship.

*Possible side-effects include reduction in productivity and loss of employment

Ah, the wonders of Excel. I tried to run this on an older version of Excel, and it wouldn't run correctly, so that may be the problem (I use 2003). Another problem could be that Excel is set to 'disable all macros', so if you can change those settings it may work properly. Check out Tools>Options>Security>Macro Security and set it to medium if it isn't, then give it a try.
