psone lcd power. can i cut the connector?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

psone lcd power. can i cut the connector?

Post by v1p0n3 »

Hello,
i'm building a projector but as this seems the must advanced forum related to psone lcd's i'm asking here.
I want to give power to the psoone lcd from a transformer other than the original.. and that transformer will also give power to 3 fans.. well my questions is.. can i cut this "board" and connect that white and blue wires directly to the transformer just like i to with a fan?
the other question is, can i give power to 3 fans + psone lcd all from the same transformer? fans are allways 12v but i don't mind to give only 7.5 so i can use only 1 transformer for everything..
This is probably stupid questions but my knowledge in this area are basicly 0
Thanks for any help :)

here is a picture of the cable that i was thinking in cut and connect direct to the transformer..

Yes to all if you provide 7.5 volts.

yay fast reply :)
Thanks a lot.
so the white wire will be the positive and the blue the negative or vice-versa, right?
I have searched a bit and i saw topics about the led mod, and the vga mod.. but i guess theres is also a mod to remove the excess of red.. i only saw this mod in a german site.. anyone did this and can try to explain me how to do that?

this is a bit out of this topic but i'll post here to don't open another thread..

anyone can explain me the simplest way to give 7.5v from a 12v transformer? i read about somethign called LM317 but i only see diagrams that i just don't understand.. i have a transformer of 12v .. now how can i low the voltage on this to 7.5 to power the lcd?
buy a new one is not the solution because what i need is a transformer that gives 12v to 2 fans and 7.5v to the lcd... :?

Any help will be very apreciated as i don't have a great knowledge in the electronic side. but i can learn..

thanks :)

Yeah, or a dc-dc converter. Lol, theres going to be quite a few power regs in this thing. Also, you can buy a 7 or 8 volt psu, it probably wont cost more than $10.
