it should not be to hard to draw power from the gamecube to power it
the yellow wire leading to the controller is 5V witch is for the rumblers (the controllers logic controles when it rumbles this wire is constant 5v unike some fool thinks)
and the blue wire is 3.43V witch powers the rest of the controller
and the Green is Ground
that sould be all you need to know and not fry it assumeing you know basic electronics
if you wanted to leave off the rumblers you could power a few leds witchout changing the power draw at all
you could evean have it light up instead of rumble if you wanted to maybe it always lights up blue or green or something then have red ones come on for the instead of rumble might be cool maybe osculating switch might make it nicer
