Replacing Audio Amp in Hip Gear Screen Pad
Well after seeing Ladyada's NESp with the hip gear screen I figured I would see if they were cheaper than the Casio TVs. They were so I got one for $15 on eBay today.
I know that the screen runs on 5v but the audio amp needs 8v. I have not gotten it yet to take it apart. I also know nothing about audio amplification, besides in my car. This http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... d=276-1731 is the only thing I could find that ran off of 5v would it work? Or would something else be better? Any tips on how to switch them out would be helpful as well.

So from the batteries to where the 7808 used to be or just to the board w/ the 7808 desoldered???gannon wrote:audio amp doesn't need 8V, that was a mistake. Just remove the 7808 and wire power directly from the batteries
Also the white LED mod is it pretty much the same for everything or does it vary from screen to screen?
Great as soon as I decide where I am going to put everything in my case and cut it I should be done in no time.

Thought it best to post here then make a new thread.
I wired my Hip Screen to my PSone earlier today and well I got audio out I couldnt get video. Now first I did see light when examing the back if the screen so it seems to be working it just doesnt have any picture. If anyone has a suggestion as to what might get it to work I'm listining.
Also a little off topic but I asked my dad if there are any LEDs where he works he mentioned that the smallest are 1/4" would that be too small if I need to replace the backlight on the Hip Screen?

Its on the underside of the audio board. You'll see a spot on it that looks like the ouline of one with a hole in the top the 7808 is on the otherside.
