Recharge circuit for SNES

Post by electromaster64 »

Has anyone here ever made a recharge circuit for one of their portables? I want to use rechargeable batteries that are permanently in the case, that way I don't have to cut my powdercoated aluminum case any more than I already have to.

I know that Ben used one in the CNC SNESp that he made so I looked on the book webpage and it says this:

"Click the links below to be taken immediately to current listings displaying parts for purchase or bidding. (Courtesy of eBay!) (Searches are automatically set to retrieve the correct model/type of part required for this particular project and will open in a new window - so you won't get lost :)"

But the digi-key andd radio shack links just go to the site and not a page of parts, maybe he tells how to make it in the book.

For Nickel Metal and Ni Cad there are no real charge circuits. Just get a recharging wallwort from Radio Shack, have a mating plug for it on the portable that connects to the batteries. There is nothing except a switch to switch it from "on" to "charge". Just make sure the polarity is correct.
If all else fails, take it apart!

So a little more specifically how would I do it? You said get a switch and set it to charge??? I know that the GameAx explodes (or something slightly less dramatic) if plugged in to the AC adaptor while it has batteries inside so I really don't want that to happen to my SNESp.

This would be a good (great) how-to-guide for someone to put up on http://www.doomportables.org/

They sell auto switching dc jacks at radio shack so you don't have to use a switch.
