Ribbon cable substitution

Post by megaphil »

Hey guys and galls, I am new to the forum and electronics and am currently building a portable playstation by the book. long story short I am having a very hard time finding ribbon cable like that described in Ben's book. A suitable wire and guage that could be used and bought at Radio Shack would be very helpful and greatly appreciated:D

Welcome!

Do you have a CompUSA nearby? If so check the floppy drive cables (the ones that connect the internal drive to the motherboard). They should be the right ones.

<a href="http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... CH">here's one for 4 bucks</a>

Or look at www.tigerdirect.com for something similar.

You could use the individual wires from the inside of a telephone cord, or any other smaller wire. The only reason ribbon cable is used is to keep the inside of the portable easier to understand, and to keep it from looking like a rat's nest of wire.

No problem. If you have any questions, just ask! (after you search of course ;))

I recently saw ribbon cable at radioshack. I'm going there to get some more parts soon and I'll reply again if I see a part #

Business help in China

Post by Guest »

I am new at this and I'd ask someone to help me with advice. I applied as recruiter manager at JobQueen, they promise to pay $87,000.00/year. I would like to know if they are for real and if they are how can I get quality sales reps in China. I didn't list the domain because promoting something is forbiden in most forums. So if you want to help me out please contact me direct at my email:

I desperately need some help. I need to extend the ribbon cables inside a playstation portable about 3 extra feet. The only problem is I don't know how to do this and radio shack here doesn't have anything close to what I need. Any help would be much appreciated.

you could just buy more than one and solder them together to make them longer.

Woah, bump bump. Digikey, Jameco and Mouser should carry them as well. You can go to any local computer store and by some IDE cable though.
