Making "glassy" buttons (eg 360 buttons, Wii's A)

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Making "glassy" buttons (eg 360 buttons, Wii's A)

Post by Stu L Tissimus »

A little pet project I intend to do now that I have a Wii is to "Wii-ify" my old GCN controllers so they blend in a bit more. Just a repaint, basically. But I'd like to make the buttons transparent and "glassy." So. Any ideas on what material I could use for it?

Plexigass (acrylic), it would take a bit of work, but you could sand a piece of it to fit, and then just sand off the first 1/4" (depending on how thick your acrylic is) of the old button and glue the acrylic piece onto it.

im sure there is a clear setting resin or something and you could just make a mold out of clay or something.

don't they sell Acrylic dowl Rods?

If so All you need to do is find the right thickness and use a clear bonding glue to bond a clear piece off, then just sand the tops smooth
