How do I connect my Wii to DVI?

Post by sammy »

I have a Philips flat tv that accepts analog signals from the DVI input.

Here's a brochure: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/1/15pf ... ss_aen.pdf

As you can see it accepts 480p. But off course the Wii Component cables won't fit the standard DVI input.

I want to buy a cable or an adapter that let's me plug the Component cable into the DVI port so I can play in 480p but the cables are rather expensive so I want to be sure which cable I need.

I don't suppose cables like these wpuld work cause they are DVI to Component or am I wrong?

Aren't component and DVI totally different standards? Don't see how you can interface without special circuitry: http://pinouts.ru/Video/dvi_pinout.shtml

why not just use the composite jacks provided on the Wii and connect it to the composite jacks on your TV? It's not like you can get a better signal by converting it
nope... can't think of anything I could possibly want to put in my Signature Block...

Composite is for n00bs! 480p FTW!

But seriously, if I where you, I'd just mod your composite cable to make a component one. All you need is 3 RCA cables, some paperclips, wire strippers & some alligator clips.
