Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

For drilling plastic (especially plexi), this is a must!

Post by G-force »

I've always had trouble with huge burrs whenever I drilled ABS. And when I drilled plexi, I got lots of cracking unless I went very carefully, and went every size up to the point I needed.

On break at work today, I saw this article in a woodworking magazine. Risking it, I snapped a pic of the page when nobody was looking. (I carry a little camera around just for things like this)

I missed the bottom part when I took the pic. Basically, you just make file the edge on your drill bit to make it flat, and that solves the problem. I havent tried this myself, but I'm thinking I might go get a cheap drill set and give it a shot.

You're welcome. If I get fired, it was well worth it to help you guys out. :P

You'd get fired for taking a picture of a magazine on your break?

That sucks. :P

So, what, I just file my drill bit down? That's it?

Also, my dad puts tape on the plastic when he drills it, and it helps prevent cracks.
