The reason they switch from rf to composite RCA input are two reasons; One being that they need no shielding, and two is the video is generally better (as you dont have to fiddle with the cable). I'd say just be glad that they still build rf adapters for consoles today.

My PS2 doesn't have a rf cable, just a SCART cable, whats a composite anyway? is it RGB? I never hear anything of it. Nintendo are using SCART and VGA for their next console I heard.

composite is composite. it's a single video line with all color/sync info in it. Needless to say it's not as good as S-video or RGB, but it's the default for ntsc
