Maybe a Bit Too Hardcore

Well, I have a micro-ATX motherboard with a AMD k6 lll that was overclocked from 450 Mhz to 550 Mhz (mobos limit). I have been screwing around with the voltages, and got it somewhat stable at 2.7 volts (stock was 2.4). After installing different RAM (PC100 I believe) I was able to get the OS (Ubuntu) to boot, sadly it crashed shortly after. Is there some way to stablalize my hardcore overclocking project besides puting it to a lower frequency

I dont think its the temps, the CPU is about 50-60 degrees celcius

Buy a better PSU?, although it way say 2.7V it may not be very clean.

lol, I almost got it to boot! I am 99% positive that it is a heat issue not a PSU issue, Ill probably go get some thermal compound and an intake fan

PS there is a place for a intake fan... but I dont know the size, should I go with a 80 mm or 90 mm fan

You don't have thermal grease on the cpu!? Safe!

If I where you, I'd lower the speed (& voltage) until you put some on!

after perilous measurements I figured out it is a 80mm (roughly 3 inches)

Okay, 30 minutes and $20 later: I got thermal grease and a 80mm fan. Everything works and now my system will boot @ 550 Mhz
