PSX no color

Post by xlagi »

Hi everybody I'm new here and I'd like to ask for anybody's help, the problem is I have a PAL PSX model SCPH-9002 and whenever I play games on it, it plays on black and white I don't have a scart ready TV, a friend once told me that by installing a 3.579545 color crystal somewhere ion the mother board will restore the color. Does any body here knows where to solder the said crystal? any help will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the reply Mr.HK-47 but the motherboard of my PSX doesn't have that kind of crystal, it has a 17.something crystal that looks like a little chip my friend told me that I should solder a 3.579545 crystal to restore the color

You should just replace the crystal with a new one of the same value.

Maybe I forgot to tell you guys that I live in the Philippines and we are running on NTSC signal, now my PSX is PAL and the result of playing it on an NTSC TV is black & white, I'm sorry to tell you that replacing it doesn't make any changes because I've tried it already.

Any more advice???

Maybe what you need is a PAL to NTSC converter so that the video is displayed properly. Thats the only thing I can think of, unless you have a PAL tv then just use that.

that crystal wouldn't be what determines if a PSX is NTSC or PAL, would it?

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.
