N64 Controller mod

Post by Punchinello »

This doesn't really have anything to do with portables, but the main reason I hate playing my 64 is because the joystick is worn out. I suppose I could just buy a new one, but i was thinking about how the joysticks like the ones on the gamecube are much more reliable. I was wondering if it would be possible to disconnect the joystick from the n64 and connect a modified c stick in its place. I opened up the two controllers and it looks like they are both connected by 2 wires... if that means anything. Also, would there be a way to hook up my GCN controller to an n64 if the joystick mod didnt work?

n64 pad uses led sensors so no, but if it's an offbrand controller that using pots for the joystick then yes.

if you look a little farther down in the threads list, I have one entitled "superpad" that is where I wired an xbox pelcan controller to a superpad, it worked quite well, but watch out when testing it, if the power wire comes off the pot, your n64 is screwed.
