question regarding case design

(Not sure what forum i should've posted in becuase this is about case design not construction)

I'm planning on making a portable n64 with a slim case (as slim as i can possibly make it, that is) and I wanted to do a graffiti design using paint or spraypaint (whatever will work). what kind of material can the case be made of in order to paint it? I want a really shiny/glossy look to it. what should i use?

Any material should be fine, just make sure that after you prep it/paint it that you put on some clear coats to prevent damage to the paint job.

and spraypaint will work? or should i stick to model paint? i need to work with something that wont wear off

Well, if you use plastic, you can use a spraypaint called Krylon Fusion; it's specifically made to bond to plastics. Otherwise, model paint is fine.

Use krylon fusion if you make your case out of plexi, then spray paint some clear enamel over it to make it glossy.

approximately how much would constructing this case cost, not including the paint.?

depends on design complexity and the style of case etc from almost nothing to a lot of money

If you know someone with an airbrush, you could use that and then use some spraycan clearcoat (The stuff of Gods). It worked well on this plastic stuff I used (I'm not sure what type of plastic it was, but I think it may have been plexiglass)
