Starting a GenesisP....
I'm definitely not breaking any new ground here, but I'm having fun anyways.
You can probably guess where my Intec screen pad is going.
Hooked up to a power source.

battery placement?

Still, I always have trouble with the d-pad. How do you guys get the depth of the d-pad, right? Basicallly I'm concerned with making sure that the space between the d-pad, and d-pad controller board are good? Thanks.

well, the way I'd do it is to have the tact. switches on a board, already wired, and then fit them into place on the d-pad....a circular piece of plastic on the d-pad would help, also, because you then wouldn't need to align the board as precisely. Then, after laying the board on top of the installed board, just use some posts (bits of plastic, broken off PCB parts) and hot glue them to the board and the inside of the case
...
If you want to be like Ben, and havea very precisely made d-pad measure or search for the height of the tact. switches and get some small posts (nylon spacers work well) on the side of the board with the tact. switches (on the edges, where the d-pad is not over them, and then just glue those switches to the plastic around the d-pad
.
Make sense
?

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

At least all of the components are working together. Still that is probably the easiest part.

You can't connect it directly through the mobo, it has to go through a Genesis' controller's chip.

Skyone,
If I'm understanding this right, I have to find the IC chip in a gene controller, wire the d-pad to it, & wire the d-pad to the motherboard?
Thanks again.

Almost. Take the IC with the controller wires attached to it, solder the controller wires onto the mobo. Then solder a dpad to the chip (the pinouts are on that site I gave you).jeffslot wrote:If I'm understanding this right, I have to find the IC chip in a gene controller, wire the d-pad to it, & wire the d-pad to the motherboard?

As sammy said, that is one DAMN hard thing to do. I recommend just sraping the whole d-pad side of the board, take the NES d-pad board, and solder wires to each command. Erm, like, one trace that commands the pad could be 'up', and the other being ground.

Before, I get too involved in the controller (that looks a little difficult), I have another question. Right now my hip gear & sega are powered by the same batteries, but independently. I.e Once the batteries are loaded, there is a seperate "on" for the sega & for the hip gear. How hard would it be to power the hip gear by the same switch as the genesis? Thanks.

Not hard, you just wire the Genesis' switch to the Hip Gear.jeffslot wrote:Before, I get too involved in the controller (that looks a little difficult), I have another question. GenesisP Updated as of 5/25/06 with a Picture
Hi guys!
Well, Phase one is complete. I've built a custom box to house my hip gear screen. Unfortunately, I decided to hold off on the controller for right now. But I will attempt to incorporate the controller in Phase two.
Here is a completed picture for now.

Thanks to G-Force for the inspiration!
