CPU replacement
I was looking at ucm and the replacing the CPU of the Genesis (68000) with a 68010 chip. Has anyone tried this beside the guy of the website.
Now more to the point what do you think a 68010 processor would do to the Sega CD? I have my broken on in front of me and wonder what improvement it might yield.

I've seen that. Try asking Epicenter. I think he has one of those, if I remember right.Sparkfist wrote:I was looking at ucm and the replacing the CPU of the Genesis (68000) with a 68010 chip. Has anyone tried this beside the guy of the website.

In fact, the guy who made the 68010 Genesis reffered me to him, telling me he was a Genesis guru. lol!

68010
One problem I had was finding a 68010 CPU. They are quite rare. One thing with the Sega CD that shys me away is the fact that all models use the surface mounted CPU.
Even if I did find a surface mount 68010 CPU, I am not willing to risk messing up a perfectly good sega cd
.
As for the BIOS failing...doubtful. There may be some incompatabilities like with the genesis..but total failure...probably not.
The 68010 delivers a nice little kick-in-the-pants.
