What material is best at making good molds for forming?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

It depends on what sort of tools you have. I glue scrap wood together and cut it down to size, and do a lot of sanding. I do this because my dad has a woodshop. But, you could also use clay to get your shape, if you know how to work it.

i use foam covered in bondo and sanded to perfect

i make a clay mold first then make a cast out of plaster then i fill the cast with more plaster and i have a nice mold for forming. i am looking into doing my molds like marshall though because it looks like its better for making two sides of a portable ( which i'd also like to try soon)
