This kewly idea I had

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

This kewly idea I had

Post by charli_kilo »

I was thinking about makinga portable (well duh) and I have bean thinking about this: INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS! it would be realy cool for like technolagy enhancements and such, it would be able to make a docking station possible. (sorry for not explaining very good, my mind is cloudy right now)

People have already thought of this.

Yeah, and I don't think anyone has ever built one yet either. Feel free.

:D I think its a pretty good idea at least. . . . The only thing I though about being a virtualy un-solveable problem is the voltage difference from consol to consol. . . . . but since the controller block would have to different from consol to consol I MIGHT think of a way to have the controller block switch the voltages through a series of fuses or somthing

Trivial to compensate for the different voltages. Just have a 12Volt battery, and then have the appropriate regulator in each console mainboard module. Switch consoles, and it converts the voltages it needs.

well think the process out completely.

This Is called Fabricating

think about what you want to interchange.
think about what will be used with each portable (battery, screen)
Make adjustments with the parts that are actually different

ie
Find one good battery
find a jack that works well for the dc outputfor the screen and console
use a dc-dc converter for the console (if needed)

*Roll with this

Sorry I havent replied in a while. The things I want interchangeable for sure are sound, and video. By witch I mean, if there is a new advancemeant that makes it so your video uses liek a volt less power, then just pop this on, and it completes the circut differently causing the video to look just as good, and last a half hour longer. Same with sound, liek a thing that makes it have better quality, instead of ripping the portable apart to do it, just pop a different thing into place. Got it?

That is a highly impractical plan. You don't add things to get higher effiency, you replace or subtract altogether instead. You'd have to break every single component on the board into a module, since you don't know what the new improvement will require removing or replacing. The lengths of wire would have to be very short going from module to module, or the resistance of the wires will cause more power drain than the benefit you would get from future enhancements.

With audio, it's slightly more practical, as there are only a few components, and you'd likely replace the entire audio circuitry at once. Still, the gains don't seem to be worth the effort, IMO.

yea quality is enhanced by the actual pathway of the electronics you cannot simply ad another section to the circuit and hope it works, it is either mod or live with it

Or you could use a regulator in the console! *GASP!* XD Anyways, with the ribbon clamps on the psone screen, you could just make it pluginabble there/\.
