BTW, is it me or is the controller port board completely useless except for shipping this thing? I mean, when building this into something else, it'll probably need to be changed (i.e. removed), I'd think

Make your own NES! Really!
I came upon this little gem earlier, and thought "Wow, that is so awesome." If you're wondering, it's replacement guts for one of those pirate Famicoms. It looks to support quite a lot of features though (has AV, and supposedly RF too, but I'm not too convinced on that...) Anyway, I'm tempted to buy a few and put Famicoms in wacky cases. I just got my first pirate Famicom from my girlfriend for Christmas and I love it. It's a teeny tiny little box with 7 built-in games (and the cartridge slot, much like the Superjoy, except not a joystick). In any case, anyone have any really cool ideas for a teeny tiny Famicom?

Nice site except thats all the text is complete jibberish. As for the controller board, its not useless it you continue to use it, the thing is most people want that vintage look and the controller board in the NOAC are not that good looking, I infact am replacing it with a vintage NES cotroller (no turbo).

OK, here's the super-vague rough translation.
It costs 999 yen (roughly 10 bucks US). It says it's the guts of some specific Famiclone, but it can be, of course, used for your own evil purposes (or you can leave it like that and play Famicom games with it, they don't care). You can live out the fantasies you had when you were in the ham radio club in school and make your own "original Famicom"! w00t. AV cable, AC adapter, and controllers not included. Boohoo.
The company's slogan is pretty amusing too: "For super-shady Asian tastes..."

Not sure how much it weighs, but I can guess not very much. It cost about $5 to send 2 CDs via SAL (Sea/Air/Land) which takes roughly 2 weeks to get to America. Shipping from Japan is sucky expensive. I'm also not sure how much shipping to me is from the place. Shipping within Japan is pretty cheap though I suspect. You could probably send an arcade cabinet for like $30 and it'd arrive the next day

One small addition: I came upon this site that talks about what looks amazingly similar to the internals this place is selling. The good news is that it looks like the mod he's talking about is already in place on this board, and the one they're selling looks to be less "circuitry from the dumpster" too. They also have some info on the Famikonyarou Vol.4 which is the same one I picked up in Osaka
I'm thinking of taking one apart and adding an NES slot where the internal cartridge was, because that'd just be cool. Anyone know of a place (in America or Japan) where you can get 72-pin edge connectors for NES cartridges easily... without ripping apart a Game Genie? Or simply an NES->Famicom adapter would work I suppose.
they may be sold out now and/or not where you live but a few weeks ago they had some perfectley good noac's for just $5 at meijers (no gun or controller just the devise itsself same design as myne)
but most of us convert the controller port to match up with nes anyway so if you can find it its a good deal

Yeah, sadly I live in Japan, and Meijer has not reached this area yet
Actually, I'm from Chicago, where there are Meijer stores, but I'm probably not gonna head over there just for $5 NOACs at this point.
But thanks for the heads-up, I'm sure someone can take advantage - heck, if you get me one or two, I'd be sure to pay you back when I get back to the USA in June...
Right now I'll just have fun playing SMB.
BTW, I know this isn't the place to ask, but does anyone have a mapper 0 hacked version of SMB2 (Japanese, not USA)? I mean, it shouldn't need a mapper, the game is only 40k. All that needs to be fixed is the scrolling (but that code should be able to be pulled from the SMB cart, right?) I had a copy that someone just slapped together and called it mapper 0 and it was all jacked up because it uses the FDS's scrolling hardware.
