Dumpester diving for parts?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Well just so you know that, i wanna add that if your going to to it dress up in rags, grow a shaggy beard and look like a hobo so they'll have mercy on you if you get caught :P (BTW thats just a suggestion, i still have my dignity also)

EDIT: Ahh! I saw this website once entirely devoted to dumpster diving!!!
(if anyone knows what it was I'll give em a cookie)

No, it isn't. As soon as it hits the curb, it's public domain.

That's weird. Dumpster diving is frowned down upon in the USA? I live in the USA, and that's what I heard?

well, considering the dumpsters are on private property it could be considered trespassing and invasion of privacy, sure they could pull some other stuff up. Maybe vagrancy for dressing up like a bum :P

Don't you need a photo ID to get convicted of trespassing?

Remember, the dumpsters for most stores are not on the street/sidewalk like they are for most homes. They are on the store's parking lot which is private property, so most forms of dumpster diving could both be trespassing and stealing, but most likely just maliscious mischief.
A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do... with a gun rack?

be a decent human and ask the manager if you could rumage the garbage supervised :P

oh yes he curb is public domain, however, if it is in designated containers, it is not public property
