Anyone built a CNC machine?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Anyone built a CNC machine?

Post by scherubino »

Has anyone built a CNC machine. I recently bought plans on Ebay and am going to give it a shot. I've spent about $400 for all the materials, controller, motors, etc.. Beats the $5000-10000 I've seen charged for them.

I'm going to use it to make my cases from now on.

Just looking for any input as to tips, successes, failures, etc... from anyone who tried it.

Here's the site I bought them from:

I've browsed some sites with open source plans and looked at general designs to build my own design, but I wouldn't have the cash to build one. The bigger you make it the more it's going to cost and the harder it'll be since your parts will need to be more precise too.

yea, I bought an economy CNC controller kit from stepperworld. It was only $200. I thought that was going to be the most expensive part. Which it was, but I thought it was going to be WAY more expensive.

The whole thing is a new challenge for me, I'm kind of excited about it. But I hope it works. It will make my portable building about 300X easier.

This is a kit I bought - it is supposed to be powerful enough to run the machine - http://stepperworld.com/FET3economy.htm
