Oh yeah, it definatley did help me! Fortunatley I havn't gotten much of my materials yet, so thanks! As for plexiglass I assume 1/4 inch is problably good enough because it's so strong. (If I'm wrong please correct me, though I kind of doubt it.)

Again, that seems too thick to me. I've never worked with plexiglass before, but I have tried to cut engraving plastic. Even at Ben's recommended thickness of 1/16" for engraving plastic, it was hard to work with. I assume you'll be using the traditional X-acto knife method or a Dremel? If so, I'd advise you to use a smaller thickness of material for the casing for ease of cutting and also the fact that the smaller the thickness of the casing, the more you can put in.

Again, I've never worked with plexiglass, so just use your judgement when buying.

X-acto/dremel method is just when you use a dremel or x-acto knife to carve the plexi. Very simple.

hi again, as you may know I'm probably gonna do vacume forming (very high chance) but instead of the styrene could I use the engraving brass plastic thingy? That flexibrass thing at Nashid. I think it's only .02 inches though... =( is that ok???

i dont think it woiuld work to well. and the thickness needs to be around .080 if you want your case to be thick enough

Any advice for those of us who CANNOT find a place to buy engraving plastic in our area? (It's completely ridiculous, because I live in Cincinnati Ohio which as you probably know is a pretty large city.) I've been looking up and down and really cannot find anything. I'd order it online but it seems expensive. What is a normal or good price for sheets of engraving plastic?

Sorry, I thought it seemed relevant under the same topic.
The places online that I have found engraving plastic sell it for close to $50 for the amount I need. That seems a bit excessive.

The very first trophy shop I went into had engraving plastic. The guy thought I was kinda weird asking to buy some of it off of him, but I got what I wanted!

okeydokey, well it's fine you didn't make a new thread, basically everyone does that (esp. when they're new to this cite). Anyway... yah that $50 is a pretty bad deal. Ask more people, because I haven't bought too much engraving plastic, so I'm not good at this. meow

Yeah, I just got the two pieces I need for my pSNES plus a couple "practice" pieces for $10 from a trophy shop.

. That's a great deal! are they durable enough? Otherwise you may need something to renforce it, I suggest plexiglass, carefull drilling through it though, it cracks pretty easily.
