I am wondering how many people have sucesfully connected a cartridge slot to a GOAC. And also what Radica they used.

I did one....you can even see it on my page ;)

Went through 3 Radica's to do it though b/c removing the damn roms always messed up my boards. I found a better way to do it though so it won't happen again.

Why was removing the rom chip so hard? I am planning on doing that soon.

I'm looking for some info on this too, I just bought a lot of 3 radicas off of ebay and I'm hoping to have at least one working [japanese accent]"Soopa Game-Geara"[/japanese accent] out of the lot.

well the most useful way I found to remove the ROM was to use a Dremel rotarty tool with a Diamond bit...

I put the speed to lowest possible and the cut above the traces (on the rom itself which does ruin it) until i could lift out the main section of the rom and only two thin edges of the ROM PCB were left (all still soldered onto the main board). This made it MUCH easier to desolder the traces from the (remaining) ROM PCB since it was now just a sliver.

With this method I only cut 2 traces out of EVERYTHING so that was really easy to fix up. It takes some Dremel precision. Using other methods I cut 10+ traces and after hours of work I still couldn't get anything running.

Can you just use a desoldering pump and take out the solder that way without having to cut the rom??

Wait, what's so tricky about this chip?? I heard there is something sticky underneath the rom chip. I never attempted to remove the chip and after doing some forum searches, I am fearful because there were many people who screwed up their Radicas with X-acto knives. What should i expect when removing this chip? My original plan was to use a desolder pump to suck up the solder on the sides and pull off the chip after all the solder was gone. Any help is appreciated.

yea, i think there is something sticky under it. That's why the Dremel method works well because it isolates the chip.

couldnt you just leave the chip there and cut all the grounds that go to it?

So when you isolate the chip, dont you have to deal with that stickiness?
