first portable

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Vacuum form or project box. Check PoD.

Although I have yet to make a portable, I would say the easiest case you could possibly make is a tackle box, and just cram your parts inside of it.

Personally, I'm going to try carving a mold out of styrofoam and making a fiberglass case. I think that'd be kinda cool.

Or, you can always just cut pieces of plastic and screw the together like Ben does... it's probably the best way to go...

but I think doing that makes them look sorta boxey.

If a vacuform machine is out of your skill level, you can get an allready decent enclousure (tupperware) and use bondo (car body filler) to customise it. Or you can work with a soft meatl like tin or aluminum and make a nice metal case. Coat the case in bondo, smooth it, sand it, prime it, paint it, polish it, then drool over it.

it may not be out of his skill level, hell my first case was vac formed. it didnt look so great but i still did it. if you plan to make multiple portables and vac form in the future i would say start now and get the hang of it.

and I'm only 16 :-P....I started when I was 15, though. but it IS hard, so a project box or other enclosure would work best.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

order cases from this site http://www.pactecenclosures.com/( you get 2 free samples ) and then buy some bondo at your local car shop( or use g00g13).....this is what im doing for my case.....i'm 13 too, so i thought this would be a very easy way to make a case.....hope that helped :D I wish you good luck on your portable.

Or just use a tackle box like me. They come in all sorts of sizes, cut up easily or you can melt them and if you dont like the color, just paint it with krylon plastic paint when you are done! plus it allows easy access to get and out.
