Battery question
Since there's no battery forum... I'll post here.
Anyways, I've got two 9.6v 1000mH NiCd batteries. One will run both my screen and my SNES, but I fear for battery life since I'm not messing with the screen much. So... I'm wondering, can I hook up the two batteries in parallell? (theoretically larger max current and 2000mH of total happiness)
My concern is that if the batteries aren't exactly the same, they'll keep trying to charge each other and do a cute little seesaw thing until neither has charge anymore. I'm pretty confident it'd just balance out, but I've no way of being sure, so I figured I'd see if someone else knows. Eh? Eh?

Just get a sony info lithium battery. Small, easy to use/connect, and you can even connect the charger onto the snes as well. My battery lasted me a little over 5 hours of continuous playing. I MAY add another on just to keep the screen and system going even LONGER, but I don't know...anywho, that's what I would go with.

Alright break down of battery needs and wants.
You will need a battery that outputs at least 7v to run the SNES. The only exception to this is if you want to remove the 7805 regulator or replace it with a LDO then you will need 6v or could get away with 5v. You will also want it to be Ni-MH or Li-ion, this is as these two hold more power then Ni-CD and they dont have a memory so you can recharge the battery when every you please.
Now wants. You'll likely want a good life for your portable so, 7.2v R/C batteries that are sold on ebay as Turbo Tax mentioned hold 3000mA (that could give you a good solid hour or two). The Sony Info Lithium I dont know the capacity, its likely closer to 4000-5000mA. Also if you do by a battery but want longer life you can tie two of the same together in paralle to give you more juice.
Hope this answers any questions you have.

I am a geek.
I have one thing to sum this up:
The Sony Infolithium L NP-F960.
It is 8.35v at full charge and has a capacity of 5400 mAh (5.4 amp hours).
Last time I checked, they were on Ebay for $35.
My SNESp Mk. II uses the original model 1 SNES motherboard, and it STILL gets 5+ hours of playtime.
Here is a pic of it plugged in:

If your going to post images people have them scaled down so they dont take an hour for those members that use dial up. Thank you - Sparkfist

If all else fails, take it apart!

yeah, the diode trick is cool. Just make sure that you get Schottky diodes when you do it. The voltage drop across them is less than that of a silicon diode, so your battery life will be longer.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

Alrighty, thanks. I don't really want to spend anything more than I have to at the moment, so I'm going to see if I can use these two batteries until it's evident that I need new ones. For the most part I'm going to see if I can get it to work and then if it does and I find myself playing it more than I expect, then maybe I'll consider investing in a new battery. The good thing about these guys is that they're small and I'm trying to build them into the case (which is the clip that goes over the gamecube and is attached to the Zenith screen). Thanks though.
