what do the numbers on the gfx card mean? I have an Ati 9550, what does that mean?
The numbers mean very little- little more than a way for you to distinguish between different video cards. For instance, the 9000 series went from 9000 to 9800. 9800 was the newest, 9000 the oldest. The 9550 is actually a 9600 core with some features deactivated and clock speeds locked. You can very easily overclock a 9550 back up to a 9600. Neither are very powerful by today's standards, and the 9800- the highend version- is slightly weaker than the 6600GT- the new mid-range.
Thanks! Never knew that. @ The staples by me that was the bestest one they had (9550).
That's pretty sad Go to Newegg.com if you want a better one for next to nothing. Once you shop at newegg, you will never set foot in another computer retail store.
I buy/bought all my custom cpu parts from newegg. Just needed instant proof the gfx card wasn't the problem.
EDIT: by the way, whats the best possible AGP gfx card my $ can buy?
