Mario 64 vs Super Mario Sunshine

I like sunshine better because Mario 64 was too lonely and stuff, and sunshine has tropical environments, more secret worlds and cool piantas to talk too.

I fore one grew up with the N64, my first game being: Super Mario 64 (Second game was Zelda: OoT) I loved it. Don't get me wrong, Sunshine is a great game...but nothing could ever beat Super Mario 64

PS: Yes, i know i got my N64 late, and only missed the whole SNES era by like a year

I loved mario 64, but I think what pushes it over the top, (never even played sunshine, I heard about the motion sick thing and was like forget it) Anyway what pushed it over the top was when it came out for the DS you could play Wario. Man oh man... That really juiced up the Wario fix.

I lOVE Sunshine! Aside from being just plain beautiful, I loved everything about it! I never grew up with a 64, heck, I bought mine like 3 years ago! (& then got addicted to Pokemon Snap for a while, then Paper Mario for like 2 months)

Either way, I like Sunshine more, but if you ask me, SM64 has just plain beautiful music.

ive beat the 64 one many times on both 64 and DS, and have played sunshine for a few hours at different times (i think i actually own a copy... goes to show up how much i care. lol)

but id like to vote for sm64. sure, sunshine looks nicer... but it just has this overly preschool feel that i cant shake.

you know? in 64 you were exploring this mysterious castle that turned out to be HUGE when you find out theres 15 paintings you can jump into and explore...

then in sunshine its exactly the same concept. except they turned the plot into a cartoon with a 'bad guy' that isnt even really that evil (oh no... dirt) and a bunch of bubbly island inhabitants. i dunno. its not original or serious enough to capture my imagination or anything, like sm64 did.

of course, i was like 8 years younger when i first played sm64 too.

I would say Mario 64 beats Sunshine.

I find that interesting, because I have both versions (64 and DS) and I have to say that the 64 version is definitely superior. I cannot manage to get into the DS version simply because of the controls. The game was designed on the Nintendo 64 with the analog stick in mind. Now, when you take a game that showcased the new method of control, and slap it onto a platform with just a d-pad, you cannot expect the same gaming experience.

Obviously you weren't using the Touch Screen & the thumb thing! (Way more better that way)

64 fer sure. Sunshine was too kiddy, or something, it just didn't grab me like mario 64 did. And I played them both for the first time in the same year, so it's not the time difference.
