Dreamcast Portable 2.0 Done

Post by dkap01 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 4:45 am

Well here's the new and improved DCp2.0 ..... With this one I went back and added some new stuff that I wanted to add to the first one but didn't.
Improvements:
cd lid switch
VMU slot
Power light
Built in charger with charging lights
and everything just fits together better. Because you always learn more each time you build one. Heres some pics of the new stuff...

Well I hope you like the new DCp2.0 and look for some new portables on the way like N64, Gamecube and I think I will be able to make the first portable XBOX. Ive ordered the parts for the power supply and I think I have the battery problem figured out. It will also have a 7" screen, so has that for a announcement? So stay tuned.........

Thanks
Dave aka dkap01

damn damn damn you are soo good at those cases and portables in general i cant imagine how much effort you must put into each portable case to get it perfect like that i love it great work :D

EDIT: dkap would you mind posting some kind of short tutorial on how you bondo the parts of controllors and screens in the case so well. and how you still show all of the originalk curves of the screen and controllor perfectly?

Wow you really put a lot more detail into the case, the area around the D-pad, analoge stick and the buttons look just like the PSone's. Nice how you really reenforced the case by using stronger screws. The built in charger is a nice feature, I like that you added a VMU port, kind of a shame it doesn't aloue the VMU to be set inside the case (like the controller)... well maybe in version 3.0. The last one is the lid button, have to say you made it just like a console again, hell really your version 2.0 is what all CD/DVD based portables should be based on.

Great job, very professional looking.

Man, dkap, I love your portables, the vacuum forming always comes out perfect! Looks like you may have some competiton though, Marshall gave me a sneak peak at his N64p, it'll be tough to beat that  ! Can't wait to see how the rest of your portables come out... :P

Man, I wasn't expecting another DCp already, sweet! It's beautiful. The best DCp to date, and probably will be for a long time! I love the case, it all looks like it was made by an actual company or something. You really know how to work that vaccuum forming machine to produce grade-A units.

One thing though, when you put in the VMU, wouldn't it stick out? And since it's in the middle...um, wouldn't that be right in the crotch area? It just looks a tad uncomfy since I like to play my portables on my lap, and having that poking in the crotch would be a bit unnerving.

Dare I say that we end the copitition for "Best Portable of 2006" now? I hope, Dkapa01, you put up a tutorial for making a Dreamcast portable. Your page about the first DCp is nice but I'd just like to see something more specific.
