SNESP Progress

Post by gamefreak11 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:17 pm

So, I've started a SNES portable recently. This is the first time I've owned a snes, although I used to play it often at a friends house back in the 90's.

I used a ZN-40 case from polycase.com. (Original, isn't it? Hey, it looks good and that's all that matters)
Using bondo putty (comes in a huge jar from walmart), bondo spot putty (from a hardware store such as ace hardware), krylon fusion white satin paint, and a lot of sanding, I got the case to look acceptable.

I also LED modded the screen. I've tested that and it was successful

Here are some pics of the cartridge slot relocation.

Sorry if the pics are blurry, that's the best I could get with the camera.

Well I can tell you this, that is definitely a short if you really have it wired that way.

EDIT: I lied, I misinterpreted your picture.

Well, searching around I found a post by Life of Brian about the snes diagram being incorrect in Ben's Book.

So apparently the ground is actually the smaller pad? Yikes, that means I've wired ground to positive.... Hope it isn't fried.

Yeah your right. The smaller contact is ground. Wow I can't believe I didn't catch that. I had the same problem with mine, so it shouldn't be fried.

Have you checked to see if the fuse is blown?

I rewired the ground and everything works now. All the games I own, including starfox, run fine. :D

I've now wired and mounted the controls to the case.

Hot glue is fun.

The cartridge slot is now in the back of the case

I'm about 90% done. I just need to wire up the batteries, mount them in the back, clean up the case and close everything up.

That's a beautiful case.
It's perfect.
How long has this taken you to build so far?

Thank you. I started in early January. The majority of the work time was spent on the case.

Blargh. People. Make you spend about 2 months on a case so it looks "good".
But really, nice job!
