Well I'm working on the next-gen mame cabinet and have got pretty far on the construction. Here's a few pics:

This weekend i'm gonna work on getting the rest of the panels on, and building the controls.

Wish me luck,

Agreed. Great stuff! Are you going to be putting any custom emblems on it, and what's the color scheme going to be? CRT or LCD? :)

Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator
or
Most Arcade Machines Ever

or
Must Aquire Mame Early
Steve irwin-died of stingray (WTH?)

If I fail in finding a good RGB monitor to go w/ my MVS mobo, I might slap a PC in my cab & put MAME on it (in which I will compile beta releases & update it weekly)

That does look cool. I was going to build a MAME with all NES, SNES, and N64 games on it, and had it all planned out. never did it though.

Looks really nice. I wanna make an arcade too, but I don't have enough space.

I saw something great on ebay once. It was a Super Famicom game selector. It's like a super famicom but with 12 games or so in the case and you just press the button of the game you wanna play. Really cool and it was only 200$, but the shipping was too high

If I ever see one again I will buy it for sure! Connect two Snes max's to it, a good rgb monitor and a nice cabinet and you've got a beauty of an arcade machine!

OK, so I got the controls from Happ yesterday and just finished drilling the holes with a hole saw. I thought I'd post a pic of the almost complete control panel. Still waiting for the Keywiz Keyboard Encoder to arrive.

Well anyway, here it is:

EDIT: Maybe a mod should move this to the arcade forum? Just a thought...

That looks great! But four buttons may not be enough. I have six for each player. And what about player 1/2 buttons, coin buttons, escape button?

I thought about that, but decided against 6 buttons. Also about the player 1/2, and coin buttons, I forgot about those at the time i placed the original order from Happ and only remembered about them yesterday when I finished attaching the buttons, so those will be coming soon. And about the Escape button, there will be an external keyboard attached which will allow for more than 2 player support.

And do you have any pics of your cabinet super camera man?

Sure do! But just so your know, I didn't build it, my uncle did.

The two blue buttons on top don't do anything, and I have no clue what the green button on the right does. The coin buttons are a must, sorry you don't have them. I have a wireless keyboard for mine, but I only use it to find games. What version of Mame are you going to use? I use Mame32. I like it. The mouse is also a great thing to have built in, but I'm sure you could just use a joystick.

Hope I'm not taking over the thread!

EDIT: Sorry for the horrible pictures, my camera is almost out of memory, so I turned the resolution down to 640 by 480.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that! I love the background for the buttons! Looks way better than my black (chipping) paint!
