Super Joy 3/Mega Joy/general NOAC/ Complete Pinout

Post by G-force »

I'm just waiting for my parts from digi-key to arrive for my N64P, and some people were asking for the file, so I redid it and added some stuff. It has the cartridge wiring, all the normal stuff, and even a pinout for the player 2 controller :) (it's about 1.3 meg, beware of big bitmaps!)

http://gtd6288.tollfreepage.com/files/s ... wiring.doc

I will eventually get all of it into my NES p0cket guide and on a web page. But until then, here is all you need to know to get a Super joy 3 all wired up.
Hope it helps some people. I tried to make it really easy to understand. If you have any suggestions on how to make it easier to understand or something else, please tell! :)

EDIT Nov 17, 2005: I renamed the post since a lot of the NOAC's are called by different names but are still the same thing.

But remember, always double check that your board and the traces on it match up to the one in the guide, otherwise you risk frying your NOAC.

The famicom to NES connector info will work with just about any NOAC with a famicom connector (just be sure you don't get the sides mixed up).

Well the first table shows what NES cartridege connector pins go to what pins on the Super Joy 3. Then it has the contoller, AV, power, etc stuff in the next table. Then the rest is just some other stuff I threw in. can you tell me what you don't understand, and how I can explain it better?

yes, but it's a bit different from super joys, I hear
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

This is GREAT if it is what I think it is. I have the same NOAC Ben has (the second time) for his first NESp. The one with the games pre-loaded. Does this pinout work for that board?

If so, does it also give the proper pin the 5v charge it needs to disable the pre-loaded games (like Ben says to do in his guide)? What pin would that be just incase I wanted to put it onto a switch so I would have the choice between the cartridge or the pre-loaded games.

Also, just to make sure I'm reading it correctly, NES 15 goes to SJ 15&16, NES 36 goes to SJ 31& 46, so on and so forth?

edit//

I think I just answered my first question, on further inspection (actually I just looked at the thing) I see the big SUPER JOY (on top of) III on the controler :)

I still want to know about bypassing the pre-loaded games and if i'm reading the pinouts correctly.

edit2//

Ok I just reread G-Force's DOC and I guess it answered my pre-loaded games question also. :)

Yup, you're reading it right.

one other thing I should explain...
bens awesome NESp story wrote:I then discovered that if you connected +5 volts to pin 31 on the Famicom side it would disable the crappy built-in games (darn) and allow a catridge to run.
But you may notice on mine it's pin 60 and pin 1. That's because I had it oriented differently than ben did.

If I rember right all you need to disconnect/connect the built in games is a SPST switch for pin 1 right off the SJ3 board. (don't let it connect to anything until you flip the switch). It might have been pin 60 though, I honestly cannot remember. One other thing, be sure to not have a cartridge in when you try to play built in games, it won't work right.

hope that helps

You helped A LOT!

I found this site while google'ing trying to figure out the pinout between the famicom and the NES.

I just ripped my super joy 3 apart and found the controler's board is different then the one in your guide. It's sleeker and is dated 9/25/03 (it actually says 2003-9-25). Also, the board that holds the NOAC is a little different then yours. The ROM on mine is branded Inbohd and has the serial W24257as-35 96023 where as yours is branded SEC Korea blah blah blah and this board seems a little sleeker then yours. When I get some time tomorrow I'll take some pics of it.

You threw one away?! That's too bad, a NESp made by you would have been cool to see.

So I was wondering, since a lot of people have been using this file (quite a few just PMed me instead of posting) perhaps we could make a sticky in here, and have a link to this file and any other good stuff (such as where to get a NES connector, video mods, that kind of stuff.). How about it?
