Does anyone know of a good seller/trader/buyer feedback system we could install on the forum? The current feedback thread is ok, but I think something similar to ebay's feedback would be super useful. Hm, maybe we could make the whole trading post similar to ebay, a thread for every item or something...

I'm sure theres a phpbb script/add-on that uses a point based system. You could do like, a Hurt/Heal type of thing, where if it was good, add +2, ok, +1, bad,-1,horrible don't buy, -2. I know that there are addons like that, which people use as "money" to buy things on those RPG forums, so maybe we could modify to work on ours.

Is there any way to retrieve the wiki that bic said "fell through the cracks" when we went to phpBB3? That seemed like the cleanest and best kept wiki.
I feel like I've brought up the "we need a wiki again" suggestion a lot lately, but whatever.....

As far as I know, there are no good PHPBB3 addons for a "rep" system, unlike vbulletin and PHPBB2. :(

The other problem is high rep would not mean they are a good poster, or alternatively, that they are a good trader.

Updating isn't really a problem, I've added a couple people to the list when you've been gone.

My plan would be to use the rep system solely for trade feedback. It could easily be abused, so the best solution would be a system where both parties "enable" feedback for each other before shipping/paying (similar to bidding on ebay). Then feedback could only be left for those a user has actually done business with. It will also help against scamming, since there will be a record of both parties agreeing to do the trade/sale, so there can be no denying the deal. Still isn't a perfect system, but about as good as you could get (or that I can think of).

Do you have the capabilities of telling what IP address an account was made from? If you haven't already done so you should make it impossible to make more than one account per IP address. That would help the feedback system so people don't just start a whole bunch of accounts and just rep themselves up. Although people could just start new accounts from various wireless networks around them I think it would help if you haven't already done it.

Also a sticky in the news section for completed projects would be cool. Not just portables but anything from small misc. mods to portables. The sticky could have links back to the original worklog thread, and people who wanted their projects added could make a post in large red font so the mods or whoever runs it doesn't have to search each post. Or better yet, tell people not to post in that thread unless they have a project to submit.

There's one problem with that: What if somebody makes an account at school, then a friend later decides to?

That, and a lot of people have DSL, with a dynamic IP address. People could still use proxies, as well.

I've suggested this on multiple occasions and provided links each time.

Searched for it, got 2 hits: Your post and ghostt's quote of your post. ;) :P (Well now I quoted your posts so that's 3) This is the first I've seen of it, and it's pretty much exactly what the doctor ordered.

The hard part will be getting it uploaded. As far as I know Ben's the only one with FTP access to the server. (Spongey might have a login but I'm not sure.)

An idea I've had for a very long time is a good way to cut down on noobish questions. First off, all new members cannot post new topics or comments in other topics. Then, at the very top of the forums, make a forum that says NEW MEMBERS READ HERE FIRST. Inside will be one topic about general rules and most importantly, information explaining the stickies. The thread will tell what information is in the stickies and how to use the search function. At the end of the post, it will tell you to PM an admin saying you've read the thread so they can get their posting privileges.
